Qualifications
Dr. Alspaugh graduated cum laude with a B.A. in Chemistry from Wake Forest University. He received his Doctor of Medicine degree from Ohio State University in 1982 and again graduated cum laude. He was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha honor fraternity as a junior medical student.
Dr. Alspaugh then completed a five year General Surgery residency, 1982-1987, where he culminated as Chief Resident at the Medical College of Virginia. The following two years, as a Plastic and Reconstructive Resident at the Medical College of Virginia, he was awarded the Theogaraj Academic Award. He completed his medical training with a Microsurgery Fellowship at the Christine M. Kleinert Institute, Louisville, KY in 1990.

Dr. Alspaugh served as President of the Virginia Society of Plastic Surgeons for the years 2012 and 2013, and is currently on the Board of Directors. He has been listed as a “TOP DOC” in Coastal Virginia Magazine 6 times, including the last 4 consecutive years.
With experience in all areas of cosmetic and reconstructive surgery, Dr. Alspaugh devotes most of his concentration on facial cosmetic surgery, breast surgery, and body contouring.
